Discover the deep resonance of the Vintage Tines MKI (formerly R2)
This popular instrument appeared in legendary recordings by Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and many others. It provides a mellow, bell-like, sound with a distinctive sustain.
Listen to the Vintage Tines MKII in action
The MKII reflects mechanical improvements made by the manufacturer after the MKI release. It offers 30 exciting presets, many of these created by the sound designer Klaus P. Rausch.
Discover the deep resonance of the Vintage Reeds (formerly Wurly)
This electric piano is recognizable in several pop and rock hits of the seventies. It was used frequently by Supertramp, Queen, REO Speedwagon, and many others. It is a very dynamic instrument with lots of bite and harmonic richness.
There are two kinds of preset: W1 and W2 which are virtual copy variant I and II of the famous W 200A electric piano with extended range.
Blooming
The "blooming" effect that characterizes the timbre of a metal piece arises from the non-linearity of the mechanical response of its vibrating elements. During the attack, some energy is transferred from lower to the higher overtones, producing a “boiinng” sound. In the case of electric pianos, this effect does not naturally occur, but this parameter can still be used virtually to achieve a rich and incredible sound.
Two parameters control this effect:
- The Blooming energy parameter controls the amount of mechanical energy which is transferred from lower to higher overtones,
- The Blooming inertia parameter controls how fast this energy is transferred:
the higher the inertia, the longer it takes to be transferred.
Audio effects
Each instrument in the pack comes with a variety of presets, with different audio effects.
You can freely use an effects chain, with the most interesting effects for these pianos being: Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Amplifier, and Compressor, allowing you to achieve the legendary sounds of the 70s.
Tines and Reeds noises
The tines and reeds are key components of the unique sound of the MKI/II and W1 electric pianos, respectively. While the tines produce a characteristic warm and bell-like tone, the reeds sound is more incisive, biting and dynamic.
Pianoteq reproduces these subtle tonal differences with remarkable precision, allowing users to fine-tune the characteristics of both instruments in the "Voicing" and "Design" panels, where parameters can be adjusted to achieve the perfect balance of attack, sustain, and harmonic richness.
